Let's Work International recruits in Romania, temporary worker Constantin attests

Romanian Constantin Hila has been working as a site electrician in Ghent since January. Constantin: "In Romania, wages are very low. That is why I work in other European countries. Before I came to Belgium, I worked for a long time on cruise ships, but then you are always five months away from home. I did not want that any more. I wanted to work in a country where life is good and where wages are better than in Romania. But I also wanted to stay close enough to my family to be able to visit them regularly. The wages in Belgium are lower than in Denmark, but higher than in Italy or Spain. And from Belgium you can fly to Romania in three hours ...".

A Romanian friend told me about job interviews through Let's Work. Together with 3 friends, I went for an interview. In the end, I came alone to Belgium in mid-November. My friends found work in other European countries. My wife and children possibly remain in Romania. My wife has a well-paid position as a manager there and it would be difficult for her to find an equivalent job here. But since my move to Belgium, I have been able to travel back home twice.

Long live the safety net of Let's Work International

Long live the safety net of Let's Work International
When I came to Belgium, there was no immediate vacancy for an electrician, so I worked first in Roeselare for one and a half months as a factory operator. That was a good job with good pay, but now I work in my own field again. I lay electrical cables and install electrical equipment on sites. It is the first time that I have worked as an electrician in the construction sector. For the time being, I work on the basis of weekly contracts, but after four months these can be converted into a permanent contract. I live in Ghent and share a house with 4 others to keep the costs down.

Do you also follow any training courses?

My job is in Brussels and I live in Ghent. That makes it difficult to follow any training courses, because they are held in Bruges and that is not logistically feasible. But who knows, maybe in the future, when my Dutch and the circumstances are better... By the way, my Dutch is getting a bit better every day, although many of my colleagues only speak French."

Thank you Let's Work International

Let's Work International has helped me a lot, especially in the beginning. Then they were like family to me. They looked for suitable accommodation and even provided bedding. Those little things are very important, because when you arrive here, you don't have much luggage. After a while, the contact diminishes, but that's normal. They have to take care of new people. In my opinion, Let's Work is the best interim partner for Europeans who want to emigrate to Belgium. I often talk to other foreigners and Let's Work offers the best conditions and support. They provide a rental car or a bicycle so you can get to work, they help you with your papers, etc... Their competitors also help you with accommodation, but the conditions are not as good.
