Let's Work Food finds skilled workers at home and abroad

The food sector is facing major HR challenges. Adriana Vainer of Let's Work Food explains: "As production machinery in the sector is becoming increasingly complex, food companies are finding it increasingly difficult to find suitable staff. Non-specific profiles are often not qualified to operate them and skilled profiles are scarce. Moreover, local people who are suitable often do not want to work in the food sector."

The skilled worker: the new ideal employee

The job content of production workers is more challenging than ever, but the speed with which people must be deployed also makes training important. Clients call today to put an extra production team to work tomorrow. New employees must therefore be able to start work immediately after a short internal training. That requires machine operators with (prior) knowledge of matters and they are not waiting in line in front of our offices.

The harvest dictates the working hours

The food sector also requires a flexible workforce: food companies are seasonal in nature and must be able to cope with busy peak periods. They are dependent on the harvest and the weather. When the vegetables come in from the fields, they must be processed and packaged as quickly as possible. This is done during the day, but also at night, and often in cold (freezer) or wet conditions - to ensure the hygiene and freshness of the products. But not everyone likes intense, physical work.

Belgium, the neighbouring countries and beyond

In the past, food companies filled half of their jobs with regional workers and recruited the other 50% from cross-border workers. Today, that number has fallen sharply and food companies need to look beyond their own national borders. That is why, with Let's Work Food, we recruit for production profiles in Romania and Portugal. In the meantime, we have built up a cast-iron network there.

Employees on whom you can count

We note that our international production staff are very reliable. They seldom take time off, are motivated and do not have a problem with the flexibility that is typical of the food sector. Moreover, with Let's Work Food, we make the difference with a personal approach. We really look for the right match between temporary worker and company. And we build a strong, personal relationship with our clients and temporary employees. Furthermore, we offer support at every level: Dutch courses, accommodation, transport, administration, etc. This is how we bind our employees to your company.

Smooth communication thanks to native speakers

Language problems are a real risk with non-native speakers. That is why we have 5 native speakers in our team. A great advantage for our clients. Because when there are misunderstandings, our translations help. And both clients and temporary employees know that they can always turn to us. Furthermore, we are known for our close follow-up and quick adjustment.
